The Clenched Fist Syndrome: Report of Two cases Keeping the hand in the fist posture for a long time may lead to dystrophic changes and severe functional loss like contracture as an unconscious reaction. In the literature these clinical entities named as SHAFT syndrome or the clenched fist syndrome are usually confused with complex regional pain syndrome and so reported less than they actually are. In psychiatry these disorders are studied under factitious disorders title and prognosis is not so good. In this article two cases with clenched fist syndrome are introduced and the subject is discussed.
