Clinical Features and Diagnosis of Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia syndrome is a chronic pain disorder characterized by widespread pain. It is common in women and between 25-55 years of age. American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria is used for the diagnosis. Recently it is accepted as a member of central sensitivity syndromes. Because of its wide range of clinical features, it is suggested that some classifications should be used and treatment should be given accordingly. In this review clinical findings and diagnosis of fibromyalgia is reevaluated by the light of new developments.
