Evaluation of the Factors Influencing Development of Arthritis of Behçet’s Disease. Behçet’s disease is a world-wide entity with an unknown etiology. In order to investigate whether the clinical and laboratory findings of the disease such as disease duration, age, sex, positivity of HLA B-5 and patergy and neurologic, vascular, ophtalmologic, cutaneous and muco-sal involvement play a role as a risk factor for arthritis development a total of 67 cases were evaluated. Oral ulcer was excluded from the evaulation of risk factors because it was present in all patients. The re-sults showed that patients with vasculitis had a risk of arthritis develop-ment 23.6 times more than patients without vasculitis, and this increase was statistically significant. It was concluded that arthritis can be an important diagnostic and prognostic factor in Behçet’s disease because in some cases it may be the first presenting sign and also the patients with vascular involvement have a worse prognosis.
