The pain problem and usage of nonstreoidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the aged - Pain is extensive and complicated problem in the elderly. It may seriously affect their life quality and activities of daily living. The perception of pain may alter by aging. The aged consume nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) in great quantities because of their musculoskeletal complaints. NSAIDS shoulds be used by care in the aged because of the higher probability of adverse reactions. A detailed drug background must be questioned and drug interactions should be considered before prenscribing a NSAID for an aged. Treatment should be started by small doses, and if higher dose is needed, blood levels must be checked. More than a single drug must not be prenscribed unless it is compulsory
