Abstract

Summary

The life span of tetraplegic patients has prolonged due to developments in the rehabilitation of spinal cord injured patients. The purpose is to preserve the normal shape and range of motion of hand as well as to increase the functional capacity and quality of life. Tendon transfers, tenodesis and arthrodesis are the principles of rehabilitation of tetraplegic upper extremity. Careful patient selection and evaluation, experienced surgeon and rehabilitation team are essential for successful results.Turk J Phys Med Rehab 2010; 56 Suppl 2: 99-101
