Bone formation and resorption markers are generally used in differantial diagnosid and treatment of osteoporosis. In this study we measured the serum concentrations of total alkaline phosphatase, procollagen carboxy peptide and urine concentrations of calcium, deoxpyridinoline in 35 patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis and 15 postmenapausal control subjects and we also evaluated correlation between this markers and patien's age, duration of menapause, bone mineral density. At the end of the study, serum and urine levels of the markers in the patients with osteoporosis and control subjects were not statistically different. And there wasn't a siginificant correlation between the markers and age, duration of menapause, bone mineral density. This results mutst be supported by new studies.
